why do mens briefs have a double layer in the front and boys briefs dont? I am just curious because I am just starting to require mens size briefs. Why do all the mens pairs have a double thickness of material in the front where boys one just have a single layer? (This is the case in the UK anyway) I think i prefer having just the single layer.

I keep buying underwear and within a month or two (specifically American Apparel underwear) the elastic waistband is getting rippled and warped and destroyed and the colors begin to fade and the elastic around the legs stretches out so that the underwear sag off.
